WOYWW 166

We all say it, week by week… “Where’s the last week gone?” but here we are, back on the world’s biggest nosey fest, peeking at each other’s work desks to see what everyone’s up to, and secretly boasting “My desk’s tidier/untidier…” – the weekly celebration that’s What’s On Your Workdesk Wednesday (WOYWW). To join in, click on the link in my sidebar which will take you to the home of Julia, Headmistress of the Desks, who organises us all.

After last week’s effort when I had no photo to show you because my graphics computer was out of action (got my new power adaptor now so all’s well again), I haven’t got much to report this week either – mostly because I’ve been glued to the Olympics, and also because in between, I’ve been having a major clear-out in my ARTHaven, which also doubles as an office.

No annotations this week (just so you don’t expect it every week lol!). Better point out the fudge in the right foreground though. This is for my mum. Honest. Not a bite shall pass Shoshi’s lips, I promise!

We’ve got under two years to downsize drastically – if all goes according to plan, we’ll get my elderly parents moved, and then when my hubby retires, we will move in with them. We’ve found the house we all want, but cannot progress further until my parents’ house sells (still no news on that front…) My new ARTHaven will be a lot smaller, but I will have the advantage of being able to plan it from scratch. Nevertheless I shall have to get rid of a lot of stuff, and much of this will be on the office side. Over the past few days my shredder has been working overtime (to the extent that every now and again it cuts out because it’s got too hot!) and I’ve emptied an entire filing cabinet drawer of redundant papers (including about 30 years’ worth of old diaries!), spare stationery (now redistributed), and I’m gradually working my way through a drawer-full of audio cassette tapes which are being copied onto my old desktop computer (the only computer in the house with a line-in socket!). This filing cabinet will eventually go.

So – as you can see from the above photo, the place is a tip while this is all going on, and I can’t get near the desk to do anything constructive, and while the Olympics are on, I can’t really concentrate on it anyway!

The Olympics are also to blame for my very poor performance in visiting desks last week (no gold medals there for Shoshi then). Perhaps I built up some credit a couple of weeks ago, visiting every single one!! I don’t suppose I shall do much better this week.

Have a great week everyone, and I hope you end up being more creative than I anticipate being.

  1. Wow, I thought it was just me. I couldn't see Julia's pictures or Frankie's. At least your photo is showing up. The Olympics seem to have taken center stage this week. At least you got some cleaning in. No number, but

  2. I thought I'd get a head start on my desk hopping even with Mr Linky going AWOL. ;D
Wow...you are going to be busy Shoshi, but how exciting to be reorganising everything. I have had to do that regularly with all my house moves but hopefully my next one will be a final resting place. I think it sounds wonderful that you have found your new home.
We are rivetted to the Olympics here too although most happens at silly-o-clock! I can't believe how well we're doing. It's incredible how quiet the Aussies are being over the medal table...hehe.
    I couldn't be more proud.
Carry on enjoy and reorganising...Good Luck with it all.

  3. Gosh Shoshi, big plans afoot. Retirement for your husband, moving, rationalizing...
We moved 12 years ago, and BOY what a clear-out we had.It was a bit traumatic at the time, but I'm so glad now. Hope you find that sort of freedom in letting go of a fair bit that you can happily live without.
You must have a lovely relationship to be able to contemplate living with your folks.I'm happy for you.

  4. That's quite a task. I remember when I did it to move out here and Chris was moaning about the number of packing boxes that were labelled 'Craft!' I still find myself looking for things that I am sure I have but can't find, that presumably I thought were dispensable at the time.
I am enjoying dipping in and out of the Olympics, and crafting in between.
Little by little Shoshi. Don't over do it again!

  7. Go on have a piece, it tastes really nice i bet you it really does, you can do it, it is only one little piece, nobody will notice it missing if you wrap it up neatly again. LOL

Gosh you are good I would of purchased another packet for me and only me, just to make sure it tasted nice, can't give away products that you don't know if they are nice or not. LOL

Love the space, be careful now that you don't throw art supplies away, they will be needed oneday.

Try and do some crafting it will make you happy.
Than again you could only give her one box of fudge.... LOL

  8. Oooh just the thought of downsizing makes me shudder. I have a huge house that is completely full of stuff, it would take ten garbage trucks to downsize me :) Good luck with your clear out and enjoy the rest of the Olympics. It's on at night here so I still get to paint in the day.
    Have a great week.

  9. So good to have the Olympics to blame everything on...we are doing it the world over! I don't envy you the clean out and down scale...good luck, that is almost an olympic activity in itself!

  10. Hi Shoshi, I've been watching the Olympics too but we don't have extensive coverage here in manila. I woke up at 3 am just to see the Opening. I woke up my husband and son as well but they were sooo sleepy, they didn't get to see everything! I found it very interesting! That will be nice planning your new crafts space from scratch! 18. I'm the same Shoshi - totally hooked on the Olympics! It's crazy as I'm normally not a sports fan at all but I've always adored watching the Olympics. I don't know what it is but I just get hooked.

  19. Oh gosh everyone seems to be loving the olympics - except me and hubby - just cannot get excited about it at all....but anyways enough of me being negative, what an exciting prospect, having a clear out and moving and getting to plan a new craft haven, good luck with it all.

  20. Ah yes, the Olympics. I've been watching in the evenings. It's been fun.

Downsizing - it's something I did and why I have no craft room. But, it sounds like you'll still have a craft room AND be able to design it yourself. That's perfect!!

Yesterday was my blog anniversary - candy will be announced soon. As part of the candy I'm offering up something made by me -- so come visit and cast your vote (if you've already been - thank you. I'm trying to visit everyone this week so haven't checked in on my comments lately).

    Happy WOYWW

  21. Your work desk area seems to be a very efficient place to work. I can't imagine having to move, because my family and I have so much stuff. Blessings!

  22. Downsizing is the perfect time to clean out and have a new beginning.
thanks for the comment on my blog and letting me know about the extra robotic writing stuff. i thought that was long gone.

  23. Looks like the Olympics is getting the blame for a lot of things this week. I have been glued to the tellie too.
Happy clearing out, I am dreading the whole downscaling part, but hey, it has to happen sooner or later I suppose.
    Happy very belated WOYWW

  24. Hello!

I can understand - been there, done that many times over the past two years. I am trying to downsize all the time as I don't want any chaos here when I am gone and no one really to take care of it other than requests I leave. So much stuff gone and still so much here in this small place. I am so happy to hear of your future plans with your parents.Sending good wishes for the sale of their house so you can proceed with your plans! Wishing you a happy day!

  25. Hi Shoshi Thanks for popping by. I am really late visiting this week. My nails were stickers. They lasted a week which isn't bad. I have a few spares so I have earmarked them for a scrap book page embellishment! You sound like you are being ruthless in your organisation. It is hard to downsize but I think it feels good to get rid of clutter too! Don't work too hard. Belated WOYWW Hugs from Helen 23
